Festival de Guadalajara

I'm a lazy ass.

Last week, we experienced La Marcha Gay de Guadalajara at our doorstep. On Saturday, Avenida Hidalgo lit up (even in this unbearable heat) with the most intense parade I've ever seen. Hubby and I were expecting something kinda small, so I had about 500 condoms made with the Shop Name and bandera to give away. Holy Crap. they were all gone HOURS before the parade even began. Doh!

Not only did the gays emerge, but so did all the transvestites, cross gender, lesbians, and bicurious in guadalajara... all taking part in the festivities. We must have handed out all the condoms and easily about 2000 flyers. We got tired halfway through, and just sat back and enjoyed the show.

Anywhoo, I don't think any description I say will give it justice....

So disfrutanlos.

Something similar came through DF this past weekend. The in-laws were here, and they acted like they'd been deflowered/paralyzed by the experience. haha...

dam you where right GDL does have a huge gay scene I had no idea, I mean I just though that in Mexico it was still not as accepted since the whole machismo thing.

This post really made me miss San Francisco. We lived right downtown and there were fair, carnivals, parades and neighborhood- "why not" fiestas all the time. Everyone in town came out in their best gear. And there were a lot of people who really know how to do it. Looks like it is the same in your town.

About Me

My photo
I've been living in Mexico now for about a two years with my hubby and 2 kids. Not exactly by choice, but we're here nonetheless. Luckily, I live with quite a few of the accomodations that i was used to in the states. In spite of those convienences, we also have a water tank with asbestos, outdated electricity, massive amounts of dust, caterpillars that burn your skin, and thousands of windshield washers on every street corner. My kiddos and I are learning to speak spanish and adjust to life away from our family and friends in the States.
